Resumo
Este artigo relata a experiência da implantação do RDA no sistema de bibliotecas da University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. São destacados os esforços para capacitação e motivação da equipe envolvida, iniciando com a consolidação de conceitos sobre o modelo de entidades, atributos e relacionamentos, seguindo pelas principais características do RDA, identificação de diferenças entre o AACR2 e o novo código, mapeamento do formato MARC 21 ao RDA e a criação de sítios da Web que reúnem diversas fontes de informação e as políticas estabelecidas pelo sistema de bibliotecas. A iniciativa motivou a equipe de bibliotecários que se empenhou em estudar e compartilhar seus conhecimentos com os demais profissionais. A pesquisa foi realizada com base na literatura e sítios identificados. O texto conclui que a iniciativa da UIUC contribui para subsidiar outras bibliotecas que estejam dispostas a implantar o RDA.

Abstract
This paper discusses the experience of the libraries’ system of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the RDA implantation. The main point of the paper shows the training and motivation of the libraries staff, who was trained, beginning with the concepts of the model of entities, attributes and relationships, the main characteristics of RDA, the differences between RDA and AACR2, and the creation of websites to group the information and documentation in a single place. The local definitions for the implantation were created and are available for consult, functioning as a reference for the librarians. The staff was motivated to study and share the knowledge and experience with other colleagues. The research was prepared from literature and websites. It concludes that the UIUC initiative contributes to helping other libraries which are planning to implant the RDA.
